The Mercedes 240D was produced initially in the 115 chassis, but as with the 300D and other Mercedes diesels, most of the numerous examples still on the road today were built in the 123 chassis. Also like the Mercedes 300D, a properly maintained 240D will run as long as you wish to drive it. The Mercedes 240D is not for everyone. To truly love your 240D you must be a basically patient person. Even with its 62 or 67 horse engine perfectly tuned, driving a 240D in modern traffic requires some planning and precision when attempting to enter a flow of traffic.
